Calming the "monkey mind"
Kia ora koutou katoa
I am a busy person and I have a “monkey mind”. And I used to be at the mercy of this monkey mind (and still am at times as I am only human!). However, now I call myself a “Type A in recovery”. That means that many times during my week I am calm and my mind, body and breath slows. I can focus and concentrate at work much more than I used to without distracting myself. And a large part of that I attribute to my daily yoga nidra meditation practice.
Almost every day I practice. Each day I return to my life’s purpose and values (Heart Felt Desire) and my Inner Resource – a sanctuary inside myself where I feel this grounded felt sense of Being and Wellbeing, a stillness and calm that is always there to return to no matter what is going on around me. I then may explore the different layers or veils of myself – body, breath, emotions and feelings, thoughts and beliefs and joy. And then returning to this grounded felt sense of Being and Wellbeing. And I forget and get caught up in busy-ness and then I practice and I remember that home ground. That essence of my true self. And that is the dance of being human – forgetting and remembering.
I’d love to share these skills with you in an 8 -week Meditation & Wellbeing course where you will hone your mindfulness and meditation muscle slowly, where you can choose your own pose to meditate in and there are no expectations about what your experience will be like. You may want to deepen your existing meditation practice or be a complete beginner. All welcome.
I’d love to you come join me. Limited to 10 participants to ensure an intimate, safe and trusting sharing space.
